Work included the deepening and desilting of Sungai Kianggeh, the concrete lining of the riverbed, boat-landing facilities at Jalan Sg. Kianggeh, the open Tamu market, toilet facilities, car parks and pedestrian bridges across the river. It became one of the more interesting places for tourists and locals to visit daily. The canalisation involve the use of precast cantilever R.C. wall sections and separate canal lining and low flood drainage all supported by 150mm dia Bakau piles (Mangrove trees trunk) at 450mm centres.
